If using an inductor to filter power supply ripple , you need to be thinking about 1 Henry or above, which means a big and expensive part, one of the reasons inductors are not used anymore in low frequency power supplies. In the case of Switching power supplies, inductors are acceptable as these power supplies operate typically at or above 20 Khz and inductors of around 50 to 500 microhenries are used ( these are much smaller and lighter )
