In reality, this type of voltage multiplier is not efficient or practical (where FETs or IGBTs are appropriate in bridge pair configurations). This is a quick and dirty visual aid (where current/load is not really considered, only potentials at the ECs). May be a bit crowded with the relays; however this scales poor with anything beyond relatively low control voltage when using serial relays (as a visual circuit aid only). Serial relays are almost never used due to excessive path resistance and inductance, which becomes more apparent when viewing the parameters of these relays (unrealistic L and R).
