Demonstration of how a full bridge rectifier can change the current output over a resistor. It shows how a capacitor can "smooth" the circuit to create a DC current.

Hi! After many hours, I have been thwarted in my attempts to understand a full bridge rectifyer. While I followed electric booms model, it does not run as well as yours for smoothing out the circuit. I want to physically build this so I can make a variable bench power supply. How would this hook up to another circuit? I know this is just an example but it is the best one for rectifying AND smoothing.

Dragoro, the resistors that i use in my example can be an external circuit. However, physically when connecting to a transformer, the ground of your external circuit could be the same ground as the smoothing circuit. All depends on what circuit you actually want to make.
