See how the scope is? Astables are always a bit dodgy like that- even more extreme in some cases. It all depends on the values you give the components. It's possible to get a much calmer looking scope too, with the right values that is. If you like to see what I mean, do this: assign these values to their counterparts-- 330R (for the 470R), 47K (74K), and 22uF (10uF). Plug in those numbers, start it up and check out the scope again. What do you see?..

If you experiment with different value combinations, and keep it reasonable, you'll find there are plenty that work well together- and some that really are, just terrible!lol..
