The first thing I want you to notice is that this is also called a Decade Counter, decade(10) because it counts 10 decimal values: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, which is 10 values (because we are including 0).

0100 (4)
0101 (5)
0110 (6)
0111 (7)
1000 (8)
1001 (9)
1010 (10 truncates via the Logic Gates)
You can look at the waveforms and notice that as soon as you get to 1001, right after that all the Flip Flops reset to 0000. You should never see the 1010 output.
I added a 7 Segment Display and 7 SGM Decoder to help display the binary outputs. I personally used a Decade Counter specifically for a digital 24 hour clock.
