Basic led driver

We can calculate a resistor with the maximum voltage (vpp) for drive a led and it works, but if don't know what is the phase wire, we should use 1 resistor for wire for discharge protection and another led for reverse current to protect first led.

You only need one resistor in this circuit to protect both leds

2x2Watt 30kOhm resistors... 3.5Watt into heat for weakly powered leds with less then 20milliWatt. Not very efficient, dangerous and why that high 650Vpeak?
