Transistors and MOSFETs

I am really new to transistors and all I know about them is that you can use them to use a small amount of current to alter a large amount of current, and I haven't even seen a MOSFET in my life, so can any one tell me about them and how to use them  both please?

Stated veeeeeeery basic, MOSFETs are like transistors, but instead of beeing controlled with current, they are controlled with voltage.

Also worth mentioning is that EC currently only has depletion type MOSFETS, although enhancement ones would be nice too.
