In real life the lamp resistors are probably not needed, you can add an infinite # of stages, to have a circuit that sequences a light chain for whatever purpose, ie. Christmas decorations, or an announcement marquee.............................................. The capacitors are to be the same size, but you can have different value capacitors for a diverse flashing pattern.
