The circuit at the top right enables the circuit on the left via 8V (use the switch if you wish to check that).
But where is the earth for the left circuit?..... How does the source or the cmos etc run without an earth return?
Put your answer replies .......who will be first?...but remember: If you think there is a hidden return/earth, then you would need to say where it is.

The left circuit components are all linked whereby just one earth is necessary to get them up and running.
The 8V line included. The line across to the right can now be seen as that necessary zero earth wire.
That earth line is connected to earth on the right in a bridge-like manner, but a simple earth would have done the job...as can be seen if you flick the new earthing switch.
