I have a car amp on the work bench. Im powering it from a 12 volt smps. I plug my phone's audio output into the amplifier audio input. Nothing happens.
Does the phone's audio output need to be referenced to the power supply? Do I need to connect the negative signal directly to the negative power supply?
I want to use my phone as a frequency generator and use the amplifier to drive various loads.

On the flip side, I would like to use my phone as a oscilloscope. Using the Mic input and a sound recorder, I will be able to log the data and analyze it. I haven't looked to much into it.
