PWM to control each leg of the RGB LED.  The higher the duty cycle on a leg, the more dominant that color is.

I'm guessing in the real circuit the capacitor value may need to be adjusted for visual purposes. Having not put the physical parts together I'm not sure how it will appear at this frequency. Typically I would drive the LED using 3 PWM pins on an Arduino rather than cobble all of these parts together.
