Just make sure the motor can supply the needed current. When stepping up voltage, to boost the voltage you must sacrifice increased current draw. Also Joule Thiefs are not very efficient (I've gotten up to 60% at best). And finally filter that shit real good. If you've ever scoped a DC motor you'll notice a veery noisy rail. Problem is, capacitors usually smoothen it up to a given degree and then they become useless. An LC filtering is the better option.
