This circuit working perfect. Substitute the transistor for darlington get about 2kv

A darlington is a kind of transistor. In a nutshell it's composed by a transistor which drives another transistor, in general a much more powerful one.

Just Darlington? Im running a tip31 c right now. 24 volts dc input. This is best ive found. May the darlington help?

The transistor which I found to work better is a bd139. I tried to use a darlington but it didn't worked for me... How much sparks your tesla can make?

The transistor to use change with the coil anyway. For example I made a 5V miniteslacoil with a 2n2222, a slightly bigger one with a bd139 and one even bigger with the tip31c, the medium one works better for me ;-)

What voltage r u running with and resistor value ?

Mine makes around 1cm, less than half an inch, with a bd139 and a 22k ohm resistor. I run it at 12V. The one with the 2n2222 at 5V don't makes any appreciable arc, but it can light up a cfl up to around 10cm, 4 inches, away.

Nice wtf. I am just trying to push it to the limit. I can get 1 inch feathers. But with that i notice negatives. Im working on distance now. 3 Foot with a 20 watt floresecent tube. About the same.4 inches with cfl.

My secondaries are pretty clean couple knots here and there. And im using bifialer primaries.

Yea same im only capable of about 35 volts dc. Othewise my ampers shoot through the roof
