I connected a vcvs to itself through a diode. EC lags out then quits when you press and let go of the button. You do have to hold the button for a certain amount of time. If you hold it for too short or too long of a time, it will immediately not find solution rather than lagging out.

If you want the voltage to go to infinity, replace the vcvs with a voltage-controlled current source
