Nice work and you may already know this and possibly used the led just for visual purposes, but an 8 ohm resistor to represent a speaker in place of the led and it's resistor

But don’t forget the EC 555 bug. You need at least a 15 Ohm resistor on the output.

It also works with an 8 Ohm speaker. Even with 4 Ohmos. nicely adjustable
