I hate to be critical but, I've never heard of time referred to as a variable. Time is a universal constant right?..

Too critical sine, true time only flows one way but it does speed up and slow down, bends with space itself. Speed of light would be considered the universal constant... and recently discovered Higgs field

Ah, not sure where my head was at but you're totally right (for the most part) roops. Time does kinda boil down to one's perception of it after all doesn't it. The speed of light can actually be slowed as well, albeit minutely (save for the presence of a nearby black hole). However the speed of light in a vacuum IS held as a constant. If I remember correctly, it's 2.998 x 10^8m/s^-1

...and here's the thing, no mater whatever speed you will be traveling at... the speed of light will still be that Fixed speed you mentioned relative to you or whoever else traveling at whatever speed in whatever direction, It's not your speed plus or minus from the speed of light! Bending of space time keeps it constant, that's Einstein's Relativity in a nutshell, cool huh!

@roops1967 : Actually you think that it is the 2nd led that go down but not because all the LEDs go down and then when the 6th led go down, the 4th an 5th go down as well and the the 2nd led does not exist anymore...

Zeus, buddy, there is no need to apologize! You've never offended me, and honestly I can't think of anything you've said that even came close to being offensive. So, no worries my friend. My interaction with roops, well I can say some pretty strange stuff sometimes, but that's just my sense of humor. I'm just playing around- I can see how it might seem to someone unfamiliar but I assure you, it's all in jest and roops knows I'm not serious. Believe me I'm not the type of person to willfully hurt someone's feelings over something trivial, and especially not in a public arena. On another matter, I looked into the proverb you mentioned- the "rod and child" translation is a very rough one! It's an excerpt from a passage in the bible and I can say that it really doesn't hold a cultural parallel, at least in America, at least where I'm from. But someone did mention a particular euphemism that I'm sure is closer to the sentiment as it is applied in French. It's called: "tough love". To me, it instantly made sense in relation to the context of our conversation. So yes, your observation is fairly accurate!- I know that roops could reaffirm that I do indeed impart a little tough love from time to time, on those who are closer to me! Well, I hope I've made things clear for you, and with a better understanding of each other eliminate any unsettled feelings in future interactions.
