SCR working principle as Pair of PNP and NPN transistor (both base and colector pin connect each other)

This diagram show how a basic version of motorbike Halfwave Regulator Rectifier works. 
As open type regulator, in these circuit SCR active soon after get forward voltage from alternator, and will turned off / disabled when Battery voltage (shown as electrolite Cap) about 13v-14v by a npn transistor drive the gate pin keep Gate pin low untill battery voltage drop to 12v-13v by load and repeat charging proses.

other type "Shunt type regulator" widely used in small motorbike.

But i tought this open type run more efficient ,  and it works like Regulator Rectifier, Charger, and Desulfator at same time. Because charging Proses On and Off rapidly as motorbike engine revs...
