Convert Magneto to Battery Ignition

Small gasoline motor with bad magneto converted to run on battery ignition. The transformer is Model T vibrator coil with one side of primary connected to ground and other side connected to 6 volt battery ( or four "D" cells) then through On/Off switch to ignition points ( shown as square wave generator) and stationary jaw of points grounded. Secondary of transformer is sparkplug voltage to fire sparkplug ( shown as lamp). When switch is in Off position no current would flow back through secondary of transformer but with lamp as sparkplug it does in simulator. I wonder if they bead welded and ground lobe on top of crankshaft to operate rubbing block of ignition points?

Suggested redesign of your circuit, using relay to simulate points. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5520916968898560

Hi BillyT, I liked your circuit with relay. The ignition points would control timing of spark in that design.

The circuit is a normal ignition system using a distributor, as stated the relay is just simulating the points, it could not operate at the RPM an engine runs at, nor carry the required current for any amount of time. A condenser (capacitor) was fitted a from the points to ground as shown. The other capacitor across the simulated spark plug is only there to give an example of how dwell time looks.
