Base current is a bit large, the base resistor should limit this to 'Max emitter current รท 95% of transistors gain at this current. Or 5k1 in this example. Adjust EM time to 10ms.

Thank you BillyT - I wasn't sure what EM time is, I am guessing simulation? At any rate, have adjusted R to 5k as suggested - still learning haha...thanks for the feedback!

EM is a contestant that EC is using to represent the motors Electromotive Feadback force, or back EMF. This determines the time that a motor takes to get upto speed, play with the enclosed circuit, adjust the EM, it will give you a bit of an idea. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5344498895552512
