This basic zener based 120v 60hz (United States mains) to 3.3v DC power supply uses a center tap rectifier to perform full wave rectification with only 2 diodes

Not that it matters, but the US mains frequency is 60Hz

One ground is to much and cause a short, and the peak voltage needs some correction for US mains. The rectifier is also not correct. Not much left over whats correct in this circuit. A regulated version also needs a little more effort then just a zener which burns the power against internal resistance of transformer and rectifier. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5136324849041408
