THIS IS NOT A TRAFFIC LIGHT!!! A traffic light has 4 states: red, yellow, green, red-yellow.

I didn’t know there was a red-yellow light. Maybe I just don’t pay that much attention.

Yeah, it depends on country. This circuit is for the light sequence used in America.

Yeah must be a little dyslexic, No country that I have visited use the red - amber combo, it's always been red - green - green amber - red.

I read years ago (don't know how true it is), that quite a lot of male humans are colour blind, especially with red/green. It's quite frightening if that is true ...regarding traffic lights. The above link here for true traffic lights in England shows red at the top.

Nice circuit. This is the sequence I'm familiar with in Canada. @2ctiby. A solution employed here often uses shaped lights. Round for green, square for red. Diamond for amber.

Bullshit circuit... Totally impractical. This should be replaced with a PIC or atmel microcontroller

Why do you think we have been designing systems like traffic lights with microprocessor control for decades? So that some idiot can replace these firmware driven systems with 1960s glue logic? Hmm?
