A very simple audio amp. BD139 and 2N3055 transistors as darlington pair and an 8 ohms loudspeaker. 12 Volts power supply gives a pretty loud output. Will measure and calculate output power after making the circuit. Intended audio source is phone.

it does work as a quick hack, but i wont use it with expensive loudspeaker, the DC current will kill the loudspeaker by overheat its coil if its to small and the constant magnetic field will weaken the permanent magnet over long term. Use a cheap liudspeaker and its a little fun circuit. theoretical you cam get +-6V at 8Ω which is rms 4.24Vrms²/8Ω=2.25Watt not more. For more it needs a higher power supply or a lower lourspeaker resistance. Thats the AC power, the total power you apply is much higher and can be calculated as fillowing 6V DC at 8Ω are 36V/8= 4.5Wrms for AC we had 2.25W both quadratic summed is √(2.25W²+4.5W²)= 5.03W while 4.5W are already constant always heating the loudspeaker even there is no sound, so you have to take care to use a loudspeaker which can deliver minimum 5W or better more to not get to much stressed. Hope this helps.

Use the Darlington for voltage gain, then use a push pull for the current gain

but with the darlington only as the headline says, you can at least make it safe for your $2500 loudspeaker http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5778328242618368 😉
