I was trying to work out why a 10k resistor in a bridge rectifier was dropping the voltage of 240v down to 7v https://everycircuit.com/circuit/6565876587036672 and was a bit stuck .
So simplifying the problem I have removed the AC power and bridge rectifier and am left with 240v DC a resistor and two diodes.
Pushing the figures through a resistor calculator https://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/ledcalc.php 240v led current 23.2ma 2v drop 3 leds in series (push calculate) and I get 10kohms.
V=IR R = V/I
voltage drop is approx 8 volts
R = (240-8)/.023 = 10087 ohms
