A schmitt trigger is a schmitt trigger because of its hysteresis. BTW, the 100nF at output is not a good idea.

Yes it is true. However, there is also current mode hysteresis. In addition, load capacitance is inevitable. Just think that it comes from input capacitance of next stage circuit. Capacitance value is questinable, it depends on circuit.

This looks more like a B-H curve of a transformer hysteresis. Schmitt triggers should respond faster.

@asdasda, the next stages wont have 100nF input capacitance. Its probably in a range of some tens of pico farad upto 100pF. So a factor of 1000 lower than 100nF!

Yes hurz is right, 100nF is a veeery capacitive load. Most loads do not present such a high capacitance. Probably as hurz stated it's more in the pF range.

Please check my answer. I think that this sentence is clear: "Capacitance value is questinable, it depends on circuit."

But for IC design, you are right. Input capacitance value is probably below 20pF.
