Polarity inversion protection

This circuit protects the 400ohm resistance (or any load in parallel to it) from polarity inversion of the voltage source. If you change polarity to the voltage source (inverting + with - ) you'll see that the mosfet cuts the current to the load, thereby protecting it. The zener protects the gate-source voltage from going over 10 volts (real mosfets have a limited maximum gate-source voltage).
