Delete the 10K resistor. Make your 1k a 10K. Delete the 1 micro Ohm resistor. Add another NPN in the Darlington configuration. Enjoy.

I like your circuit. I made the follwing modiifications: Changed the power source to a 9vdc battery. Changed the lamps to LEDS. Moved the switch to the positive side of the battery (otherwise the front end of the circuit remains energized). changed the emitter diode to 150 ohms.

Did you consider that the entire point may have been to use lamps?

Yes, but I wanted an LED circuit...hence why I used the term "modifications". Note that I said I liked his circuit...I just wanted to do something else with it.
