You can see that the voltage over the resistor converges to the mean value of the voltage over the inductor and resistor. Due to the high inductance the current nearly stays constant, so that constant voltage over the resistor relates to constant output voltage. (The purpose of the capacitor is to smooth the voltage over the resitor.) Rising capacitance leads to higher setting time, but smoother voltage.
