Question on tube power supply

From the circuits i viewed all rectifiers were tube rectifiers. Then i noticed that the overall power consumption is not so large. Even the power tube consumes no more than 50mA (relatively). Well i know for sure there are diodes that can handle 500V at a few amps like BYT79-500. Why the need for a tube rectifier? Can't we just make a voltage doubler and get it to the volts we need?

We not need tube power supplies. They are made rather as visual attraction or as a direct medicine for total cyclophrenic state of paranoidal audiomania to make relief from uncontroled painful biting maniacs thoughs

...whose all time scream about some stinky shitty semicoductor diode whose were constructed only to phuck up sound in our million dollar worth turbinium powered tube preamplifer

Haha so it turns out the rectifier tube is totally unneeded? It seemed weird to me to. I was sure there were diodes which can handle all that power safely. And I'm not talking about preamplifiers, but tube power amplifiers.

Man I wish EC came with a "upvote" button
