A step-down cycloconverter is a circuit that reduces the frequency of an existing AC voltage without a DC link. In this example, the input is 230V 50Hz mains and the output is 690V 16.67Hz, which is 1/3rd the input frequency.
I have made the input and output voltage unequal for better presentation. With equal voltage levels, one waveform masks the other on the scope.
