Harbor Freight Freebie Flashlight Project

Just want to offer this up for comments/corrections (as I am a Newb at this stuff). I want to use the LED strips from the ubiquitous freebie Harbor Freight two-way flashlights to make under-counter lights for my work bench. The flashlight uses 3 'AAA' batts in series for 4.5v. The LED strip with a 1.5 Ohm resistor draws 60mA and is plenty bright for my needs. (I am assuming the LED strip's forward voltage is 4.5v. as there are no part numbers to look up on it). If i can find a wall wart (in my box of wall warts) or build a regulator for one of slightly more voltage, is this an appropriate set up for three of the strips in parallel? I am also considering using an IR detector to turn them on when I sit at the bench. Comments or suggestions?

I think so if you wire the led strips in series voltage should be there same but amp draw would increase. Should be fun. I like using potentiometers for this this kind of thing to see how much power is needed. Voltage should still be the same but just multiply the amp on one system times 3 or just add it two more times to the first single reading
