Its not a pure sinwave, it cant be! Its just close to a perfect sin. Suppose you are sitting on a swing and you already swinging up and down, than is a perfect sinwave as long as the amplitude is not decreasing! Unfortunately its decreasing so you have to put some energy back to swing again on a stable higher amplitude, but this is the moment were you disturbe the perfect sinwave and produce harmonics. No oscillator of this kind can make a perfect sinwave! Just an acceptable wave form!
