I may be mistaken, but I don't think this is a constant current source. I changed the power and voltage of the light load, and the current fluctuates a lot. Perhaps these circuits can help... https://everycircuit.com/circuit/4902539157569536 https://everycircuit.com/circuit/5424946364547072 thanks!

I like your design on both. A variable resistor (pot) is not in either design. Mine is a approximate adjustable fixed current supply. Apples and carrots. This app is great for showing a design even if it is not exact in operation to the real world part's. LM78XX series regulator & Lm317 are all fixed current device up to 1 amp typically even if the input voltage varies. LM338 is a simple device as is a LM78XX series or LM317. Thanks for your interest. LM338 will push up to a 5 amp load. The load in this design is 5 watt to approximately show a power handling device. In one of your design with a pot, do you think this part will handle 1-5 amps required
