Transformer as a Relay

I was playing with transformers tonight and i noticed it could be used as a relay.... Sort of. The off current will never be 0A but it will be quite small when the transformer's secondary is unloaded. Once you close the switch e.g. load it, more current will flow through the load, as the transformer strives to meet the requirement.

Good job bugger, I've seen this by accident. Never thought about why.

If you add a voltage source in series with the switch and reduce the turns to 100 or less in the secondary, you have dimming control, it acts as a magnetic amplifier.

Magamps don't work here. Something to do with the core saturation.

I said it acts like!
