Nice idea! A programming example would be nice for less experienced atmel freaks. Interesting here is the TRI state mode were both LEDs are suppose to be off. This HIGH Z mode can be made by change port pin to INPUT. However, todays 5mA LEDs do shine bright at about 1mA, so you have to increase the resistors more to not have both on (maybe even to 2kOhm each). And for the case you use green leds the threshold voltage will be around 2.5V and not 2V which is for red ones. Keep it up! http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6197670402326528
