Imagine making a 4-phase generator. I believe that is possible. Anyway, this is the schematic of generating electricity for a 40W lamp. Post any of your ideas in my comments below! I feel this project is interesting enough...!

It is possible, but producing the generators, transformers, etc, will be more expensive.

2 phase 90° is still utilized in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. It can be considered the same as 4 phases, as L-L and L-N are 90°, however the complete opposite L-L is 180°. Two single phase center tapped transformers are used for conversion. The generators in service are rebuilt, so a new utility generator is not likely available.

A stepper motor can be used as a generator for 2/4 phase

Interesting info...

3 phase has the advantage by delivering the more effective power with the least amount of conductor material. 2/4 phase had the advantage of cancelling the "tripling harmonics".

@rich11292000 I guess 4-phase needs obviously more material but does it have more efficiency than the 3-phase one? I feel that "quatro harmonics" can fill more gaps in a diagram and deliver more energy! Is my idea right?

The same until you factor in material. But in todays usage of more and more electronics the 4th phase is able to suppress the harmonics, especially when it comes to harmonics on the neutral. Power plant companies are going in crisis, as they now have to increase their neutral wire size 3x. Seems like 4 phase will exceed efficiency of material usage compared to power utilized. It turns into political opinions at this point. My opinion with the electronic usage, 4 phase exceeds efficiency of 3 phase.

I will keep your word @rich and maybe I can make a real 4-phase generator in the near future!
