Actually this is a better example of LC oscillation. See every diode (Zener LED varicap) have junction capacitance which combined with an inductor makes an LC tank circuit. This is the basis for FM modulation using varicap diodes. DC defines their frequency and when it's combined with modulated DC the changing capacitance will shift the tank circuit frequency causing it to be Frequency modulated.
