Simple led with resistor and single pole switch

You need a current limiting resistor in series to prevent burning the led out. An led here needs 20ma.

This app is a ton of fun and learning. If new to electronics or this app look at the Examples tab and/or download the app called "Lessons in Electric Circuits" . Enjoy

Wyoelk.....I'm obviously new at this. Thanks for the input. However, I do have a 15 ohm resistor which drops the 9v down to around 2 volts. Does the LED need LESS voltage? Thanks again.

Resistors doesn't drop the voltage to a defined voltage. Here for example you need a 470ohm resistor or the led will burn like in the simulation
