Intro to Transistors

This is a circuit on my homework. We were doing these on bread boards, since I don't have a bread board at home I'm doing it here. However, it doesn't seem to work. My directions are as follows: Disconnect the 6v end of the resistor, and attach it to ground. What happens to the bulb as you switch the resistor from 6v to ground? I have no current in this configuration, can someone please help me?

Ground all negative ends / or loop them all together with 1 ground.

Lol, "no current flow" is the answer to this homework problem, not the question. Do like the other guy said and ground the negative ends of both DC sources. Then, if I were you I would add a SPST switch in series with the Base Resistor, and that lowest DC source..

Once you ground everything you might want to turn the lamp into 100 mv

Thanks for you help. I missed the grounds, I'm having a hard time translating from a breadboard to a schematic like this. Before I removed the 6v end of the resister and connected it to ground I had current flowing through the light bulb. After connecting the 6v end of the resistor to ground, I have no current. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that because I have no current running through the base to the emitter?

@x35m95 how did you figure out my lamp needed to be 100mv?

The schematic tells you all you need to do is adjust the lamps voltage until it turns on

Disconnect the negative from the resistor after that hook up the possitive from the battery on the left to it.

Yes. The correct answer is what that other guy said. <3's@Sine_eyed. P.S.: ( where do you live country wise. I took the liberty of making multiple raids on our local RadioShack as this particular one closed after bankruptcy ) I have a few extra taking up what I would only assume could be useful space...etc
