this circuit really works with nice sound quality. But the transistor gets hot even with no audio input and get hotter when in operation. Heatsink is recommended i use TIP41(npn) and TIP42 (pnp) as the two power transistors and 2n3094 for the first npn transistor. 1n4148 is recommended in because its a fast silicon diode for higher frequency. This is just a very simple amplifier and its very inefficient.

Its wasteful compared to class D or other topologies. However, I really love the sound of the push pull current amplifier. Cant be beaten!

I do feel its time to lower the whacking great cap you have on the output. Its just OTT

@H199, the output transistors should not get hot with no signal, as there is only a small quiescent current going through the transistors.

I really made this project and supplied it with 19 VDC from notebook charger , it made it louder and efficiently dissipating a lot of heat

HI, how do you get/calculate component data ie Saturation current. I have looked at loads of datasheets and this information is hard to find, cheers
