Very Simple EMP Generator update

⭐️⭐️⭐️Caution: If you build this circuit, choose a suitable operator!⭐️⭐️⭐️ Simple advise, find a very corrupt politician to throw the switch back! 1. Simply throw the switch to start charging. You will see the LED light. 2. When the capacitor is charged the LED will simply go out 3. Tell the simple operator to throw the switch back to discharge the capacitor. Notes: If this circuit does fail, remember that your devious planned use for the EMP may still be achieved. Yes! Don't give up! Utilize the 1KV DC source to power a rudimentary lase! This almost certainly will not produce a significant EMP!!!! BAM! EMP!? P.S. If you are unable to obtain parts, or have difficulty in finding a 1KV DC source, apply for a grant from CERN. They are very rich and spend a lot of money. This circuit is just the beginning. Live long and prosper. Enjoy

I wait for Hurz to tell you the inductance is too high.

Well, he wouldn't be wrong. Inductance and capacitance are too high in that tank circuit

Voltage is realistic. Capacitace is much to high, @ 1kV 10-100uF might be ok. 100uH will take a while to pump enough current into it. What im missing is the ESR.

ESR? Equivalent. Series. Resistance?

Right.

One more idea I had is to use electrolyt capacitors. But only for a limited time shorter then half/quarter the ringing periode to not get reverse voltage. The easiest is an extra resistor to get the aperiodic case and a single pulse only.

Look, put simply, i really believe it is just not possible to create a Significant EMP with this type of circuit. Doesn't matter what values you choose. Its totally impracticable. Have you seen how many amps this pretends to generate? You would have more luck with a small nuclear bomb i think

Here we go 1F 100uH with 20mOhm dampening we get a perfect single pulse and can use electrolyt without any extra controlling electronic http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5788479857623040

EMP in sense of a local effect on your desk. There are projects with old polaroid cameras and its flash system to build such a circuit. However, only to destroy localy an RF Id tag for example.

Yes, nice pulse. I would guess no actual additional R would be needed as this would already present in the L

These circuits use parts from old disposable cameras? How do they produce an EMF without melting the inductor ????

OK so your one hurz has a probable ESR of 8 mOhm (the tank)

Errata: previous estimated ESR of mine was completely wrong. I have horrible toothache. Am using whisky to numb pain. Dentist tomorrow

Here we go, the project and I think there are many more then this one, called RF-ID Zapper http://www.rfidjournal.com/articles/view?2098

I think the first reference I heared was this one https://events.ccc.de/congress/2005/static/r/f/i/RFID-Zapper(EN)_77f3.html

Ya, I see, its interesting. I think in this RFID zapper application, it might be more effective to produce the RFID frequency as a large pulse. This would ensure maximum transfer of zapping power to RFIDs and not other devices...

Yeah, but they are from 125kHz 13,56MHz and maybe even higher in frequency selective.
