A Half-Bridge Inverter uses two semiconductor switches and a "split" DC input to convert DC to AC. When the upper switch conducts, a positive voltage appears across the load. When the lower switch conducts, a negative voltage appears. The diode are used for freewheeling to redirect residual energy stored in the inductor back to the input. Pulsing transforms are used to drive the gates of the MOSFETs. A small dead time is given between the 2 on signals to ensure that the 2 switches are not on at the same time.
