Just asking - why does the motor have to spin at 4400rpm?

I think it has to do with the model of the DC motor. You only can set the nominal voltage of the motor. If you lower the power supply it will slow down, it would be more ideal if more motor variables could be set like armature restistance, voltage constant and so on
