Why does this say 'check circuit topology' when both switches are down? It works correctly otherwise

no battery, add capacitor on both lines

Pretty sure you are right as the circuit is simply two switches in parallel. I would think it is a program bug. But here are some basic circuits that I started with, http://everycircuit.com/circuit/522497436706406 hope you enjoy

I've run into this anomaly before. I think it arises because EC thinks there is a short circuited component (one switch is shorting the second!). To remedy this, place 2 small resistors in series with each switch to add contact resistance. Hope this helps.

This is most certainly a result of running the sim with ideal components. Each switch has a contact resistance of 0 in Sim and putting two of those in parallel would result in a division by 0.

@ViolationMad, because in the two formulas for resistors in parallel, Rtotal = (R1*R2*R3... *Rn)/(R1+R2+R3...+Rn) and 1/Rtotal = (1/R1) + (1/R2) + (1/R3)... + (1/Rn), result in dividing by 0?
