A very basic illustration of an NPN Darlington transistor switch and it's function. Please disregard the values as they are irrelevant to a specific application. You will need the data for the specific transistor to know how much voltage and current it will control, as well as how much current is required at the base for it to conduct from the collector to the emitter.
