It works, but the delay with the capacitor is useless.

Huh, cool. Bit of a shame about the 20ms duration though, it would be barely more than a pop. I turned the 10k res. up to 100k, but it barely made any difference. ... Ah, I got it: remove the diode pointing right, and then duration can be controlled by the capacitor and resistor on the left.
