You should first close the switch. Then,You can control speed with the pot. Red cycle represents rpm of engine and orange cycle represents wheel rpm when they are connected to analog dc voltmeter. Shifting is some late but it isn't a problem in real circuit because we can't observe a circuit in this time scale.
