Try pumping it to 9V and adding a transistor after the switch to properly light it

A transistor would be to much at this point. This circuit has already failed because there is no current limiting resistor, and the LED has blown up.

Two questions: what does "pumping it to a transistor" mean? And why are so many circuits being posted without series/ current limiting resistors? Circuits that very much need them in place! Source • Resistor • LED • Ground- now THAT is the basic LED circiut!..
