Self oscillating Slayer Exiter using an IRFP460 n-channel MOSFET.
Basic protection for the gate by the 47 Ohm series resistor and 12V zener-diode.
I drove the real circuit up to 24V, although when I did that and "picked up" the arc, the MOSFET was killed quickly.
At 15-16V everything stays cool and you can play with the coil as you like.
Later I added the series capacitor in the feedback line and added a small snubber parallel to the primary. haven't tested yet how far i could go now.
