Is any way to make the light turn off after 5 seconds with dimming?

A couple of things for consideration when designing circuits that involve using 555s for timers. 1. The time base on the screen must be in units relative to the time base you are using, if it is desired for units per second then the 1second time base is a useful starting point. If a 5second turn off is required then the 5second time base would be handy. 2. The manufactures recommend that the timing resistors be 1k or greater, the higher the better to keep the current flowing through the 555 to a minimum. An 555 output resistor is recommended, this is also useful as the base resistor for the transistor. A power transistor like a 2n2055 would be helpful on a circuit like this. There a little bit of fade in the accompanying circuit. Adjust the 1mf capacitor for turnoff time and the 220nf capacitor for flash rate. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6548043751751680
