Eurorack switch to ground produces gate voltage

There seems to be no standard for gate voltage in Eurorock. Generally 5v but can be up to 12v. Modules usually have a threshold of 2v, and standard input impedance is 100k ohm. In some cases they need a sharp attack in order to trigger. In this circuit -12v is unused. Current is around 2mA max, when output shorted. Diode is used to represent a diode which exists in some footswitches, not part of circuit, since addition of debounce this prevents a sharp attack. Just leave it out. The 10k resistor on the collector of the second transistor can be used to modify gate voltage. 100n capacitor de-bounces the switch. In the real world circuit 1u was used. Transistors 2n5551, not accurately modelled. Diode does not illuminate on model. Does in real life. It's a 3mm orange device, cheap from Aliexpress. Rated at 20mA, but bright enough with 6k8 resistor.

How does the presence of the diode in the second button affect the trigger time?

Because instead of dropping exponentially towards ground the voltage is dropping exponentially towards .6V , which is not far off the threshold needed for switching.
